Stand up for Springsteen and Bono or, don't get mad now, America !
I just saw a segment on the news about how some REALLY big names in the entertainment business such as Bruce Springsteen and Bono of U2, and many more !
The concert industry has been impervious to the recession and high ticket prices over the years. Last year in North America, the average box-office gross was up 18% and the average attendance up 6.3%, according to Billboard magazine.
Even in the pricey tristate area, Bruce Springsteen tickets remain relatively low (by top-star standards), with lots of slots to be had for $63.50.
Naturally, these hacked-down rates hardly apply to the best seats in the house ( get ready for a nose bleed ).
If you want good seats for, say, U2's shows, you'll pay at least $250 - not counting those add-on fees.
Now, we're all aware of the liberal, Marxist bent of many of these artists, performers and actors who like to wear the badge of social justice, anti-Capitalist and make absolute fortunes railing on about those evils, but you might not know just how much they love the spoils of your miserable capitalistic little lives...
The February 4, 2007 New York Times reported that U2 and the Rolling Stones are among the world's worst abusers of Dutch tax shelters.
The accounting is complex, but basically, to avoid paying British and Irish taxes, the Stones and U2 shift assets and income to the Netherlands. In U2's case, by the way, their net worth is estimated at about $900 million according to "U2: Prattling Bums" by Steve Novick.
According to Forbes; Bruce Springsteen's tour last year grossed over $26 million
Last year's "Devils & Dust" went platinum, selling 625,000 copies to date in the U.S. Critics hailed this year's release, "We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions."
It took a while but you're here so the point is, these liberals don't need your money and would, I'm sure , agree that your hard earned, heavily taxed - you aint seen nothin yet - concert dollars would be better spent as a charitable donation or even put away for that "Hard Rain That's Gonna Fall Future," unless of course you're a lucky recipient of the Governments new Employment program called Government expansion - how they are going to pay for all those new employees when the world of revenues outside of DC is crashing down I'll never know..
They're cazillionare's with really cool shelters and don't need you're bucks so when you get the urge, just put on the cd..
They'll thank you from the bottom of their little commie hearts while you're contributing to fundamentally changing America, the World!
And hey, it's good for your karma !
